I flat towed a type 3 VW from VA to TX, driving about 18hrs straight through the Appilachian Mtns. (By flat tow I mean all four wheels on the ground.) I averaged about 65mph the whole way. The VW was a standard and I had it in neutral with the front wheel unlocked. She weighed in at about 1...
So you're looking at about a 1" lift with the CRD springs in a gasser? I'm guessing the ride will also be a little stiffer based on the higher spring rate.
when my boys were young enough to still sit in one we had the fwd facing behind the driver seat so the passenger could reach between the seats and handle any baby needs that required attention without having to stop.
totally personal preference and what look you are going for. Alot of good comments and opinions. <---- key word. It's your rig. Do a little photoshop editing and see which one you like more. My opinion white out for a 'dressier' ride and black if you're out hitting the trails (or curbs) ;)
Not true. I've been into air cooled VWs since I was a wee little lad and still am. VW made sliding sunroofs (ragtops*) back in the 50s & 60's on the bugs and buses. As long as you maintained them you never had a problem with leaking or wind.

the idea is to protect your vitals and make it easier for your libby to slide over rocks. everything should be overlapped to avoid having anything for your rig to get hung up on
Thx brother, I use the same avitar on about 5 forums and tracking w/ "TF" or 5th, played with both when I was w/ the SOSB. Miss those days, big A sux.
Back in NC a buddy of mine had engine work done at a dealership and they forgot to put in oil and his motor blew and they said tough...
it has to do with where you have them (which photo hosting website) also on whether or not you're linking the small pick to the bigger or using the big picture. btw, I think photobucket only allows you to link to the bigger with the smaller
I'm guessing you're 101st, I hope this isn't your 3rd or 4th trip the litterbox across the pond. If this dealership already has a bad reputation, head on in and drop the "gonna get you on the 'off limits' list" comment and see how fast they start playing nice. #-o Nothing like losing military...
highjacked =;
how do you like your GPS antenna? Is it one of the boaster types that sends the signal to your GPS or is it wired direct?
thanks
