No, the noise is intermittent even with the A/C off.
It does sound like a one of the rotating accessories popping on though, but it is very loud and high-pitched.
Weirdest freakin thing
On occasion my KJ will 'pop-on' with a high pitched "Skeeee" noise that sounds like one of the accessories coming on.
It is intermittent but frequent. When it does 'pop-on' it will not stop until the truck comes to a stop or close to it.
It slows with the speed of the car.
It doesn't seem to...
After replacing my KJ's starter this past weekend the transmission had begun down shifting from 1st to 2nd hard, and on occasion the upshift as well. I was getting a P0700 & P0731 code from the 3-Key On/Off Odometer Display Test. Which is for a TCM error and 1st Gear Ratio Mis-Match.
I...
Both my U joints are fine. No play in them at all.
I did find a tear in my inner passenger side CV boot though:
Looks like it's leaked a good amount.
I know normally I should be able to make a slow hard right had turn and here the cracking if the outer boot is shot, but with it...
Hey guys,
I'm having trouble pinning down the source of a loud vibration/rumble I'm getting while my foot is off the gas pedal at anything over 40mph.
There is no steering wheel shudder, and breaking seems to have no effect.
It is a rotational noise that coincides with the speed of the...
The PCV is correctly routed to a bung post throttle body on the diverside of the air box.
The mystery bung that I'm missing a hose to is on the passenger side of the air box.
Second guesses?
I was replacing my IAC valve last week and noticed that one of the bungs on my pre-throttle body air mixer box is missing a hose.
Where does this line go to?
Does anyone have a hose diagram for the 02 Liberty?
Thanks!
It was the IAC valve!
Remember to unplug the positive lead to the battery for at least a minute. This gives the comp a chance to relearn correct idle speed.
EDIT: Also the trans fluid is very high. At operating temps with the engine on, the stick read an inch above the "Hot Max" dot. It was on...
That's what I meant I'd do this afternoon. Thanks for the info though!
Please do! I know when I bought the truck the guy said he had recently replaced the IAC valve.
Will update this thread as I find out things as well.
Just bought my first KJ this past week.

Having a few transmission issues:

If you have any suggestions please let me know!
Thanks!
Checked the trans fluid level and it's an 1/2" above the "Hot Max" dot when the engine has been sitting and is cold.
I think there's a bit too much fluid in the trans, perhaps building up too much pressure?
I'll recheck this afternoon after the trans is up to operating temps and is running.
Apart from the carfax I have no service history, and there's not much on there.
The truck has aroud 129k on it.
It also seems to have an issue down shifting, while driving to work this morning I noticed that if I let off the gas the rev's stay were they are and very slowley fall. And in...
