The fan switch on my '03 only works in position 3 and 4. 1 and 2 are dead and don't turn on the A/C or move any air thru the vents. Is this just a matter of replacing the switch because the contacts might be bad?
The problem had gone away for a while, but is back. The other night the headlights shut off for 2-3 seconds on the highway. The problem is sporadic, so swapping relays on the JB might not identify the problem right away. What/where is the multifunction switch?
My wife's car doesn't have that cap. Anyway, an update...
The issue was a vacuum hose (pcv?) and the noise was from a lifter (or two). Once that was replaced the top-end noise went away.
My wife's 03 has a drippy trans pan and cooling lines. The tech showed me the spots where it's rotting so I bought OEM replacements to do the job meself. Is there a sticky somewhere detailing replacing the trans pan and lines? I've seen a You Tube video, and it seems pretty straightforward but...
IBD. The last oil change was done by a garage and I just assumed they used 10 weight. It's due for its next change, so will look into a full syn 5W-30. But what about the syn oil might make a difference in the noise?
My wife's 03 has what sounds like a slight rod knock when cold, but when the engine warms up the noise goes away. Oil level is normal. Is it possible this is a valvetrain noise? Can't figure out why it'd be temp dependent though.
Howdy All,
My wife's '03 has an intermittent issue where the headlights will blink off for a second or two then come back on. The flicking on & off is accompanied by a clicking sound in the dash that sounds like a relay cycling. Is there a relay for the headlights that might be on its way out?
I don't know if this counts as fancy, but I have a pump that attaches to an electric drill that I can attach hoses to. I can add as much cleaner as possible then just circulate it ad nauseum through the core until flushing it out with clean water.
This is what I'm hoping for. Flushing one direction then reversing the hoses and back-flushing might dislodge something and restore circulation. Tomorrow's project. Might take a look at the Prestone flush kit.
