Well, I may have found my problem, or at least the root cause of it. Last night I went to remove the PCM and noticed some leaves and grass deep in engine compartment down where the inner fender meets the fire wall. Apparently a mouse must have took up living space in my engine bay and chewed...
I'll have to look those wires again to be sure, I can't tell all the colors/stripes from the picture I took.
I have a scanner. The problem is that the OBDII port will power up my scanner but the Jeep won't communicate any data. A friend is supposed to be lending me his laptop cord so I can...
No, I hadn't considered the ignition switch since it does crank. Could the ignition switch have something that could go bad and affect all the other stuff?
Hmmm... interesting. A couple/few broken strands could increase resistance (which I'm guessing what the sensor measures) which could screw up the reading... I've also heard when the batt temp sensor goes bad that it causes strange electrical problems. Will have to check that out too.
Last night I jumpered my fuel pump relay and fuel pump does run. I couldn't get the wipers to go this way but I didn't mess with the high/low relay, so I'm guessing I missed something there. I also swapped the ASD relay with the blower motor relay and confirmed the relay is good.
I did find...
If I buy a used one from the exact same Jeep model, would it need programmed? Wouldn't the flash memory stay preserved?
Also, we're talking about the module behind the battery, correct?
Last night I jumpered my fuel pump relay and forced it on, so it's good. I also swapped the ASD relay...
Do you know if the wipers are on the ASD relay by chance?
I'm chasing the same problem but my front wipers don't turn on either. Squirter works though.
No OBD coms.
No wipers.
No fuel pressure.
Fuel light on, but 1/2 tank
Fuel gauge doesn't go up at all.
Check engine light on.
Thanks,
I don't have the key w/ line through it light on mine, but my check engine light on the right is on. Are all 2002 Jeep keys chipped? I'm pretty sure I had a spare key made at Home Depot and it worked. I'll have to dig it out a recheck it.
I'll jumper my fuel pump though to check it before...
I'm chasing the same demon on my 2002 sport...
Does your gas gauge work? Mine isn't. My front wipers won't turn on either. And my OBDII port isn't communicating. My next step was going to be to drop the tank and start checking the fuel pump/gauge voltage and grounds before changing the fuel...
I'd guess the impeller is starting to slip on the water pump. Warm it up, turn heater on full blast at idle. Then hold the revs at 2000 or so, does the air get hotter? Mine did. Also keep in mind, with a new water pump your old radiator may not be up to task and spring a leak like mine did.
Ok, bought a gauge and checked fuel pressure on the rail. Zilch.
So either fuel pump is dead or not getting power...
However since my fuel gauge and wipers aren't working either, I suspect the problem may not be limited to the fuel pump.
Guess I'm back to waiting for my code reader to...
Battery is good.
Fuel pressure, check is next on the list but do need to get a gauge since I don't have one.
Tried all the key-on-off tricks to get the codes, but none worked.
The hold-tripmeter reset-key-on-off trick to check gauge cluster did work but gave no codes.
Ordered a OBD-II code...
OK, more info...
I no longer believe the tank is empty even though it sounds like it when you thump on it. I put 4 gallons in it and no leaks or drips... I think I have a electrical or computer problem now:
Further investigation reveals front wipers don't work (but squirter does) and I'm...
