timing belt won't go over tensioner

Are you replacing the "Timing" belt that drives the camshafts, or just the Serpentine/Accessory drive belt that runs around the water pump and alternator etc?

Brake seizures + stiff pedal !?

Hello Brad Do you still have your KJ? If so, did you sort out the brake issues? When our brakes started dragging, I rebuilt the front calipers with new pistons and seals. The rear calipers were flushed/cleaned out, but not yet rebuilt. I found that a "hard" pedal and "not much braking" was due...

    Replacing front diff

I have just finished replacing the front propeller shaft on my 2007 KJ CRD. If you have a V6, then the exhaust joint probably has to be unbolted. This section from a Service Manual has the description headings reversed. The first section is actually showing the exhaust for the V6. Once the 6...

I have a 2006/2007 KJ CRD LTD that we bought new and am finding that many of the parts required to keep it on the road are no longer available. The factory parts support seems to have started droppping off after ten years, in about 2018 and has gradually gotten harder to source parts. Rockauto...

What did you do to your jeep today?

....removed the front propeller shaft, to stop the vibrations caused by the output shaft bearings. I have a replacement Zumbrota unit, but am waiting for a new Transfer Case Yolk seal. https://www.zumbrotadrivetrain.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=242j-10

bad clunk over bumps following front bilstein install

Have you ever replaced the ball joints in the lower control arm? Mine have failed previously and caused a noise like you mention. New ball joints eliminated the noise. I now have greaseable ball joints in the upper and lower control arms.

Did getting the transfer case removed and swapped/rebuilt fix your noises?

Transfer case / transmission ? Where to start?

Our 2006/2007 KJ has CV joints on the front propeller shaft. The rear of the propeller shaft has a CV joint that regularly fails. As it bolts onto the front of the transfer case output shaft, it can damage the transfer case front output shaft bearings and cause oil leaks.

    Transfer Case Swap

In "Full Time", the centre diff is unlocked, so if any wheel starts spinning, there is no drive to the three other wheels. In "Part Time" the centre diff is locked, and drive to front and back diffs is split about 40/60, so then you need one front and one rear wheel to start slipping before you...
