Trying to cut the ends is a rough way to remove the CV shafts and my cause vibrations??? Disconnecting the lower ball joints etc will make a much better job.

Have you ever replaced the ball joints in the lower control arm? Mine have failed previously and caused a noise like you mention. New ball joints eliminated the noise. I now have greaseable ball joints in the upper and lower control arms.

Did getting the transfer case removed and swapped/rebuilt fix your noises?

Our 2006/2007 KJ has CV joints on the front propeller shaft. The rear of the propeller shaft has a CV joint that regularly fails. As it bolts onto the front of the transfer case output shaft, it can damage the transfer case front output shaft bearings and cause oil leaks.

In "Full Time", the centre diff is unlocked, so if any wheel starts spinning, there is no drive to the three other wheels. In "Part Time" the centre diff is locked, and drive to front and back diffs is split about 40/60, so then you need one front and one rear wheel to start slipping before you...
