Changed the u-joints. The old ones were completely cactus! Not a hint of grease left and the little pins were rusted and broken. No more clunking when going from reverse to drive!
Edit. Had a hard time getting one of the caps on. Turns out some of the little pins had fallen over preventing it...
The wet season has arrived where I live. Water water everywhere! I drove through some yesterday (nothing deep) and now the lights on the dash don't come on when I engage 4wd.
Water must have damaged the transfer case position switch. I only just replaced it too!
Im getting a P0100 Mass airflow code as well as a P0400 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction code, so I bought a new MAP sensor. Hopefully this sorts it out.
Took it to the shop to replace the front lower ball joints and the inner tie rod ends. Got a wheel alignment, too. The steering is much tighter now. Feels more responsive. I used moog problem solver for all parts, hopefully they go alright. I did have to grease the ball joints at home though as...

Given you have just bought his Jeep and it has fairly high mileage, I'd go ahead and replace both diff oils and the transmission oil and filter. (ATF4 transmission oil). Id also change the air filter, plus all...

These are the types of roads Tog and I drive on. Those corrugations are like 10 million speed bumps all lined up one after the other. Drive that for hundreds of kilometres. They will shake a vehicle apart! Often you need to go off the road all together and drive in the drainage ditches...
Looks great! I would like to do this to my KJ, but I'm not sure how they would go in deep water. I sometimes have to cross water and it goes over the bonnet (hood). Water pouring into the top of the engine might not be ideal.
