    Project 2004 Liberty pickup

Last few months have been busy using the Liberty pickup exactly for the yard work I built it to do. Finally had some nice weather and free time to paint bumpers and most fender flares the same color and bolt them back onto the Liberty. Front bumper was trimmed to get rid of the fog lights and...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Painted both bumpers and most fender flares with Rustoleum Bumper and trim paint. I am not sure how much I like the black bumpers and fender flares, but overall I am happy with how it turned out. I used 2 cans and only had enough for one coat on each piece I did. Looks like I will need 1 more...

Got my pickup on a couple ramps to show off the amazing suspension articulation and chassis, well whats left of it, flex. Stay tuned for more shenanigans!

What did you do to your jeep today?

Got my Jeep on a couple ramps to check suspension articulation. Happy front end IFS Thanks to the welded diff it just rolled up the ramps with almost no gas pedal input. Suspension has articulation, very little but enough to keep all 4 tires on the ground or ramps. Rear axle has a...

Took the rear sway bar off, 1/2" chrome vanadium impact swivel did not fare so well.

sota, Do you have a picture of where I can find that part in the door. It was raining the other day and I did not take the cut up parts to the scrap yard yet. Also can you take a picture of the plastic strip you are talking about. If I have them I'll pull them ans send them to you.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Found out that it's much easier to work on rear end suspension components when the rear end is upside down!

    Project 2004 Liberty pickup

sota, So I got carried away a little today. Wanted to see how much of the truck I can cut out if I wan to bob it and make it say 20" shorter. And apparently it's so much easier to work on the rear end when the rear end is upsidedown. Anyway, my pile of parts is getting bigger and abut...

    Jeep wheel interchange

mercdudecbr600, You have a great point, if you plan on hitting your wheels with a 5lb sledge hammer on regular basis you should have steel rims. And yes manufacturers did get it right, less weight, better mpg, superior heat dissipation, much better looks. It's more of a personal preference...

    Project 2004 Liberty pickup

Slowly cutting up the parts Jeep. Back is cut off and I even took the seats out. Now it looks like a convertible. I am tempted to cut it in half and stretch it or shorten it just for fun before it all goes to the scrap yard.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Pulled the fuel tank out. It was surprisingly easy to remove by myself. There is a handle on the passenger side of the fuel tank, does anyone know why?

    Jeep wheel interchange

Aluminum rims took 20 tons before breaking, steel took 10 tons before catastrophic deformation. There is a reason why just about every manufacturer puts alloy rims on their vehicles. The kind of off-roading most KJ owners will do both steel and alloy wheels re appropriate and just depends on...

    Project 2004 Liberty pickup

Apparently the structural integrity of my Liberty pickup was greatly compromised to a point that I now have a 2,000+ lbs payload capacity. Playing with my parts truck I decided to turn it into a convertible, just to see how much structural integrity that flimsy sheetmetal really provides...
