Default Need opinions

Hey all!

So I've really been having the itch to get rid of the KJ recently. There're just too many things that I want fixed and not enough time to get it done. It feels like I'm bailing out a sinking ship. So I shopped around a bit. I found a couple of trucks I'm interested in and wanted to know your opinions.

Option 1: 2013 Tacoma TRD Off Road
80k miles
Toolbox installed in bed
Bed clearly used A LOT.
Underside clean, but some (very few) questionable spots like a greasy area around the UCA boot.
Has the more preferred e locker.
Listed for 22k
Test drove and could hear a slight knock in the rear when gravity shifts. May be the tool box? Idk.

Option 2: 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport
60k miles
CPO
Quite a bit cleaner in all aspects (bed, interior, underside)
Has the less preferred Limited Slip.
Listed for 30k
Haven't test driven it yet.

Background: I park my vehicle on the street. So the exterior WILL get beat, so I'm not too concerned about exterior scratches. More just how well the vehicle was treated. I don't daily drive. I walk to work and will primarily use the truck for pleasure, towing, and the occasional off road trip. My biggest concern is towing my waverunners around in sand.

All of this being said, which would you go for? I'm having a hard time deciding if I should pull the trigger and on what. I will be negotiating prices. I think I can knock the older one down to 18-19k. But I'm not sure about the newer one. It's priced pretty high and I would rather see it in the 23k area.

Thoughts?

Thanks all!

Both trucks got a lifetime of driving in them still. I am a cheap ass and for $8k i can fix anything. I am not too familiar with them but if there is not a huge difference as far as technology improvements the 2013 sounds like the much better buy.

Are you dead set on Tacomas?

20k miles isn't a lot of difference. I'd just make sure on either you'd get all the fluids changed right away. I'd be upfront with the dealer about the knocking noise and ask they can pull the tool box out.

I'm pretty set on Tacomas with a slight soft spot for Nissan Frontiers. The latter being much cheaper...but tends to have timing chain tensioner issues at random as well as radiator clogging issues.

Taco > Nissan would be my vote. I'd say go for the cheaper one with the better locker. You will want to mod it and that money saved would go a long way.

Unless you're also saying this is the end of you going wheeling in which case I'm going to be super bummed.

Nope. Would be able to go way more often without worrying about having to be towed home.
