Hello, new member here. 2007 Jeep Liberty 4x4 3.7 L. So I have been chasing a starting issue throwing parts at it wondering if someone on here may be able to help. Here's a breakdown.

Sometimes it just starts up (rarely)
Most time attempts to crank than nothing
Latley only way to guarantee start is to put key into auxillary pop the hood open fuse box take cover off starter relay fuse and use pliers to jump the fuse. (This method works Everytime). Our power door locks also stopped working at the same time idk if that is part of it like the security system malfunction or something.

Some people mention the Neutral Safety Switch but I cannot find the location of this part is it external or internal on transmission???

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I've replaced the starter relay fuse, crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor

Disassemble ignition assembly, pull out the ignition actuator and ignition switch

Put your key into the lock cylinder and then try to turn the ignition switch with a screw driver, if you can start it up like that actuator is probably partially broken (you may see pieces)

If you can't start it like that it, may be the ignition switch

Yes what RenKJ said^^^^

A very common problem on the KJs is the Actuator Pin Assembly breaking.

This is the rectangular section that rotates when the key is rotated to operate the ignition switch...the tip of the actuator pin starts to break....has enough strength to turn on the ignition but cannot go the final stage to Start.

First check if the Jeep will start in Neutral instead of Park.
Jumping pins 30 to 87 in the starter relay as you are doing overrides the ignition switch and the Park and Neutral Interlocks.

So remove the plastic covers over the steering column...two female Torx screws.

Remove the ignition switch off of the Actuator Pin....smaller Torx screw. This is a "security" Torx screw that requires a male Torx driver with a hole drilled down its center.

If you see debris falling out then the actuator assembly needs replacing..Dealers do not stock it but Dorman does.

While the ignition switch is exposed...place the key in its normal slot to unlock the steering lock and enable SKIS and turn the ignition switch with a small flat screwdriver...should start and run if ignition swtch is OK!
