Coming from a Land Rover background, I've seen roof mounted tents. Is there anything like this available for the KJ?

Thanks!

I've seen these b4 and it says in the description:

As you may have guessed, these roof top tents are a great addition for a Jeep. Cherokees are a natural, and you can mount the tents on crossbars using the rain gutters or the factory rack on the Grand Cherokee and Jeep Liberty as well.

Wow - thanks for the replies!

I tried the mopar link and it says Error: 500.

The autohome site looks more promising...

I was thinking of the Overland tent model.

Thanks!

Those tents are pretty neat, too bad they go from $1500 to $2000 plus.
But I can see where it would be good if you're camping in bear country.

Roof tents are cool! This is from the Denver Auto Show last month. Yes, a bit expensive.

If you don't mind, why go with a roof mounted tent?

I read in lost from the ones that own one.....
like the places they go to sometimes are too rocky and no places to put a tent the conventional way..one of the reasons anyyway

Watch it, that first step will getcha. Nothing like a side of broken bone to go with a little off-roading. \:D/

But seriously, i think i'd rather sleep on the ground. Cool idea though.

Lol - but takes the hassle out of tent pegs and the rest.

In africa it would've been a fantastic idea: eg. camping in the Kruger Park, keeps you safe from beasties.

Shame lions can climb.

Snakes too for that matter.

Adventure Trailers are awesome!!!
We've been looking into getting a camper, some kind of small pop-up, but the adventure trailers have changed our minds. Totally cool! Stove with propane, hot shower, water and gasoline reserve, cargo space, and above ground tent rock the house.

How much weight can one of those tents hold? I thought the roof rails were only designed for like 100lbs? My fat ass could wear out some roof rails real quick...

Tiny rails + 280lbs = kaBooooom! #-o \:D/
