I ended up using the Rubicon express 2005 brackets as rear shock extensions.
These are for TJ wranglers, and similar to our rear shock mounting dimensions.
30 bucks on amazon and now i dont max out the extension on my Iron man shocks!

Pics and a "how to" to come. But it was relatively easy, and totally reversible.
Part number RE2005

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Maxing out a shocks "extension" is not a bad thing nor damages the shock, sudden full compression is bad for shocks.

If you needed or wanted limited extension for your shocks the better choice would be the correct shocks or limiting straps.

They are stock length Ironman shocks that came with the lift. Went on a weekend offroad trip and it was way better with these. They did not over extend or bottom out

Having the shock ext. gives you a little more flex out of that ironman shock, smart tinkering. You had an issue and found a solution that works for you. Good on ya!

that is exactly why i did it.
thanks for the understanding/positive feedback.

you cant lift it 2 inches with stock length shocks. well you can, but then you are further away from the center of the shock travel. so less down travel is available, and more up travel than needed/usable due to bumpstop extensions.

this is the Rubicon Express bracket, part number RE2005

i mounted it with the "leg" of the bracket down. the rest goes above the factory bracket, and kind of rests on it. then a through bolt and you are good to go.

You would actually have more down and less up travel
But buying correct length shocks is always advisable
But has been mentioned you found a way around it so ..........
BUT that actually gives me an idea...............:emotions34::happy175:

Oh so you used stock length shocks with shock reducers.

To no bracket mods with the stock length Ironman shocks that would clunk as they reached full extension just going through the driveway at the local hardware store...

Either way, still going to have issues, even more bumpstop now since bottom of shock is moved up, less down travel and will blow shock if not enough

How much bumpstop are you running ?

Just trying to help you out. Stock length shocks are only so long,
so....they were topping out going over small bumps before so now you have maybe in inch say extra , but you now have an inch less at the bottom. Sitting like you are in the picture, shock has to be either completely compressed or darn near it. Either way when lifted " longer " shocks are needed is all we are trying to tell you .
Sorry, we'll go back to our cave now :mwah1::happy175:

For now, he is happy and fixed his problem. Y'all are right that it will break in the long run. When it does he can put a longer shock in. For the $ though, 30 instead of 200 for a new set of shocks to replace shocks that still work is an easy choice.
