I have a 2007 Liberty Limited with 3.7l. Through some trades and whatnot I have acquired this exhaust kit

Gibson Performance Exhaust - Cat-Back Single Exhaust System, Stainless #17404

This is technically for a 05 to 09 Grand Cherokee. it has 3.00. in. Offset Inlet; 3.00 in. Offset Outlet. From some searching I found that my Liberty is the stock 2.5 in and out.

My question is two fold. Can I use this exhaust provided I use some sort of adaptor?

Should I use this exhaust or am I not considering something that would make this not a good idea?

3 inch exhaust is just way to big for a liberty. You could use it, but it will only hurt the jeep in the fact that your mpg will go way down.

Our mufflers are center/offset, so even if you could get the pipe size to work, it probably wouldn't route correctly with the provided pipes.

Not sure about your state inspections, but I just failed mine because I was no longer using the stock hangers due to the pipe location I was using. I had to change back to the stock exhaust and am taking it back for re-inspection tomorrow.

You should be able to have an exhaust shop switch out your current muffler for the Gibson.

Hmm

So please correct me if im wrong but it sounds like i could technically use the muffler without any trouble but the pipes themselves would not work?

If i chop the in and out and just have a shop weld the muffler onto my stock pipes can i get away with that without issue?

Correct. The pipes are not going to help you. I would recommend you just take everything to an exhaust shop and let them figure out what and where to cut.

Still going to be a flipped up mess, 2.5 inch pipe up to 3 inch muffler and then back down to 2.5 inch tail pipe. You can buy a cheaper muffler that actually works instead of trying to do all of that . Not worth it at all
